We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Rogers Funeral Home
On May 16, 2022, Wayne Arthur Yon peacefully and gently ascended into the loving outstretched arms of Our Great Lord.
He was born on December 4, 1956 in Homestead, PA to the late Ellwood and Lydia Yon.
Wayne attended the University of Pittsburgh and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree within Life Sciences and Chemistry. Throughout his career, his niche expertise was within the food industry for the management of quality and safety assurance.
Mr. Yon was a Troop Leader for the Boy Scouts of America, in Upper St. Clair, PA, while Justin was pursuing the rank of Eagle Scout with three palms.
He introduced his love of model railroads and model airplanes with his son and grandchildren. Wayne was looking forward to fostering the joy of building and launching rockets with his grandchildren. The grandchildren recently received a telescope for Wayne to pique their interest with astronomy and upcoming astrological events. He closely followed the progress of the NASA programs since his youth. Two of his most memorable vacations were visiting the Houston Space Center and the Florida Space Center. Wayne was a fiercely loyal Steelers and Penguins fan. He most recently enjoyed the games of the Mahlers. His greatest joys were the memories built with his son, daughter-in-heart; he, especially, cherished every second enjoying his three grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 41 ½ years, Michelle Yuhas- Yon. He is also survived by his son, Justin A. Yon and his wife Janelle, his grandchildren, Jordan, Jared, and Jacob Yon, his brothers, Mark Yuhas and his wife Kim, John Yuhas and his wife Kelly, and Michael Yuhas and his wife Mary, his sister, Regina Skeels and her husband John, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at the Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, DE, from 4pm to 6pm on Thursday 5/19, with a Memorial Celebration Service, at 6pm.
In lieu of flowers, Michele, Justin, and Janelle would be grateful for donations presented in Wayne’s name to the China Outreach Ministries, 555 Gettysburg Pike, Suite A-200, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
