Ronald Jeffries

June 21, 1955 — February 14, 2022

Departed on this life on 14 February 2022, at the VA Hospital in Wilmington, DE, after a long battle with underlying health issues.

Upon graduating from the W.C. Bryant High School, Ronald served in the United States Air Force and later retired from the United States Army.   He became a long distance truck driver for Georgia Pacific and Perdue.  His love for driving continued never refusing to drive for anyone who needed his assistance.

He moved to Delaware several years ago to be joined in matrimony with his wife, Patricia.

Ronald loved NASCAR racing, taking short excursions on trains, visiting Pennsylvania, taking cruises, vacationing in Florida, having breakfast with his Hearthstone Buddies on Thursday morning, and attending occasional small community house parties.  Most importantly, he enjoyed visiting New Jersey to attend BBQ’s and to play a game of Spade with his new Blended Family.

Ronald was just learning to enjoy the Gift of Life in traveling and accepting that he was a Gift from God!!

His soft spoken spirit will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know him.  What a Big Teddy Bear and kind person to have crossed our paths.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Eva and Sylvester Jeffries and his brother Arnold Jeffries.

He leaves to mourn; his wife Patricia Smallwood-Jeffries, his mother-in-law; Mable Smallwood, (Hillside,NJ), Father-in-Law; Harem Smallwood (Hillside, NJ), his brother, Conrad Jeffries (Charlotte, NC); his sister-in-laws, Sandy Jeffries, (Charlotte, NC); Greta Smallwood, (Hillside, NJ), and Karen Smallwood, (Williamsburg, VA); his brother in law, Harem Smallwood, (Williamsburg, VA);  his Aunts and Uncles Lokie and Patricia Majett, (Conway, NC); Calvin and Margie Edwards, (Richmond, VA); his uncles Percy Lassiter and Elmo Taylor, (Rich Square, NC), and his Aunts Roberta Taylor, (Rich Square, NC);  Bea Newsome, (Jackson, NC), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many family members in North Carolina and friends who will miss him dearly.
