Obituary

On March 24, 2022, Patricia A. Hansen passed away at Delaware Hospice, Milford, Delaware, with her children by her side. She was born on July 2, 1936 in Washington, D.C. to the late Alexander Douglas Shaner and Edna Mae Biggs.

She graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School in 1954 before marrying and raising a family. Pat was a devoted mother, involved in all of her children's school events, and especially sports activities for many years, with the Green Meadows and New Carrollton Boys and Girls Clubs. Pat worked for the Prince George's County Board of Education and was active in many community organizations, including initiating the Block Parent Program in her neighborhood.

Pat retired to Milford, Delaware, where she enjoyed going to the beach, fishing tournaments and playing cards with neighbors.

Growing up, Pat loved to dance and rollerskate and was one of the original rollerskating waitresses at Hot Shoppes restaurant.

She loved sitting on her front porch instructing her grandson Steve, and great grandson Jordan, as they created gardens of her favorite plants and flowers.

Pat loved spending time with her large family and was a wonderful mother. She will be missed by all. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by her children, Janice E. Baker of Federalsburg, Maryland,  Donald P. Eslin Jr. (Cheryl) of Annapolis, Maryland,  Beth Anne Eslin Coleman of Los Angeles, California, Brian E. Eslin of Milford, Delaware and stepdaughter Kimberly Hansen Pierson (Bill) of Severn, Maryland.

Fifteen grandchildren, including Jen Foster, Kate Kimball, Richard Poole Jr., Steven Poole, Ryan Eslin, Brandon Eslin, David Eslin, Erin Coleman, Kyle Coleman, Ashley Eslin, Matt Eslin, Mark McGowan, Christopher Miller, Willow Eslin and Riley Eslin. Twenty great grandchildren. A sister, Karen E. Carroll of Washington, D.C.

Mother-in-law Marjorie Beckwith, sisters-in-law Bonnie Godin and Joyce Verkuilen, all of Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Hansen, former spouse Donald P. Eslin Sr, stepfather Clyde E. Sisley and her beloved son, Scott A. Eslin.

A private Life Celebration will be held on May 1st.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the SPCA.
