Marjorie Vreeland

April 15, 1946 — September 9, 2022

On September 9, 2022, Marjorie V. “Kay” Vreeland, peacefully passed away at Delaware Hospice with her daughter by her side.

She was born on April 15, 1946 in Greenville, MS to the late Marvin and Annie Mae Smith.

Mrs. Vreeland graduated from Marjon Beauty School, Wayne, MI March 1970 as a Licensed Cosmetologist. She Owned and Operated Airport Beauty Salon in Carleton, MI.  Mark “The Bird,” Fidrych Hall of Fame Pitcher for the Detroit Tigers was just one, of many customers from her very large clientele.  After moving to Virginia in 1986 she became a Flight Attendant for Piedmont Airlines which later became US Airways.  While working there, she met her late husband James (Jimmy) Vreeland. After retiring as a Flight Attendant 2001, she began working part time at Target in Salisbury, MD. Kay enjoyed playing Bingo, floral designing, antiquing and spoiling her 3 Grandsons in Michigan. Kay was a member of the V.F.W. in Salisbury where she assisted with several benefit fashion shows and of course playing Bingo. Numerous times she was very lucky at Bingo and many times would be so tickled and could not wait to get home and tell you, “I was waiting for that, “One,” number to win the coverall!”

Kay had an excellent eye for floral Designing, She could make beautiful arrangements from anything she found, whether it was from garage sales, Goodwill, or things that just caught her eye.  Many of the beautiful arrangements were given to Family and Friends as gifts.  She also loved donating her creations to the, Crossroads Church of God in Salisbury, MD for each holiday or special occasions.

Kay and Jimmy married in June 2006 at a small Private Ceremony that   was held in the beautiful backyard facing the pond of their long time neighbor and friend’s, Bobbi and Les Payne.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Deborah K “Debbie” Watson (Milosch); three grandsons, Joseph E “Joey” Watson, Nickolas M “Nick” Gilstorf, wife Sarah Gilstorf (Bellum) and Jacob C “Jake” Watson and two great grandsons Rowan and Luca Gilstorf. Her cousin Peggy Smeraldo Smith, an Aunt, Lois Harris; 2 step brothers Herby Hauser, Allen Smith and 2 step sisters Delores Mccauley and Karen Simpsons. Jimmy’s 2 children and 2 grandchildren and sister in laws Mary Lou Webb and Kay McFadden.

Kay is preceded in death by her husband James “Jimmy” Vreeland, her daughter, Sandra, “Sandy,” Milosch, her brother Marvin “Butch” Smith, birth parents Marvin “Smitty” and Annie Mae Smith and step mother Paula Smith.

Kay’s family would like to thank the staff of Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE for their loving care.

The family will receive visitors at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday 9/18/22, and 1pm to 2pm on Monday 9/20/22 with the funeral service at 2pm. Due to Health of Attending Family, Face Masks Are Requested.

Interment will be at Milford Community Cemetery.
