F. Russell Bannan

July 25, 1939 — October 5, 2021

On October 5, 2021, Mr. F. Russell Bannan went home to be with the Lord.

He was born on July 25, 1939 in Wilmington, DE to the late Francis and Etta Bannan.

Russ grew up in Pennsville, N.J. and graduated from Salem High School.

He worked as a Chemical and Blueprint Operator for DuPont Chemical Company for many years before moving to North Carolina and working for Lowes Home Improvement at their flagship store in Wilkesboro. He retired from Lowes and moved back to Delaware to be closer to his family.

Mr. Bannan was a devoted Christian and belonged to The Gideons International and was very active in Crossroad Community Church.

When Russ was younger he enjoyed hunting and fishing. More recently he enjoyed studying the bible and spending time with his family and friends as well as traveling.

Mr. Bannan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Bannan. He is also survived by his children, Melissa Mallon and her husband Michael, and Jonathan Bannan and his wife Jennifer, his grandchildren, Courtney Hayes and her husband Grant, William Robinson and his wife Meredith, Jaime Turner and her husband Zachary, and Kaitlyn and Darren Bannan, his great grandchildren, Ty, Kymri, Ember, and Axel Hayes, and Oliver and Rose Turner, his sister, Barbara Walter and her husband Charles, and his brother, Robert Bannan and his wife Shirley.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at the Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, DE on Saturday 10/16 at 11AM.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to The Gideons International or to DelMarva Teen Challenge
