Emma Crovetto

November 2, 1932 — December 10, 2022

Emma Pettyjohn Crovetto, age 90, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Tidal Health in Salisbury, MD on December 10, 2022. She was born November 2, 1932, in Milford, Delaware, daughter of the late Horace and Elizabeth Pettyjohn.

Emma graduated from Milford High School in 1950. She played field hockey and basketball. From there she went to Wesley Junior College and graduated with a business and secretarial degree in 1952. After college she married F. Richard Crovetto. They moved to Michigan as Richard continued his education in pharmacy. Upon completion, they returned to Wilmington, De.

Emma’s work career included working for a Credit Union in Michigan, E.I. DuPont Wilmington, and several pharmacies, owned and operated by her and husband Richard. She finished her work career by working for thirty-seven years with a local Georgetown, DE. Legal Firm and retiring at the age of 80.

She found enjoyment in reading, her computer, driving, shopping and loved spending time with her daughters and son-in law. She most cherished her time with her three grandsons, their wives and grandchildren. She has continued to maintain many friendships, especially with many of her high school girlfriends and has continued to have local get togethers.

Emma attended Christiana Presbyterian Church, Millsboro Methodist Church, St. Johns Methodist Church of Seaford and was a lifetime member of Milford’s Avenue Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband F. Richard Crovetto and brother Dr. Frank S. Pettyjohn, M.D., COL USA (Ret.).

She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Crovetto Phillips Short, her husband Edward of Delmar, MD, and Nancy Crovetto of Seaford, DE.; grandchildren, Dustin C. Shultie and wife Shannon, Christopher T. Phillips and wife Abby, Corey R. Phillips and wife Kelly and step granddaughter Lindsey M. Short; great grandchildren, Ashlyn Shultie, Daxtin Shultie, Reese Phillips and Oakley Phillips; sister in-law Marilyn Crovetto; nephew, Kenneth Crovetto; nieces. Angela C. Wright, Joanne Booth, Elise Gore, and Ellen Massey.

The family will receive visitors at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford DE from 12pm to 1pm on Sunday 12/18 with a funeral service at 1pm. Private visitation for family only is from 11am to 12pm. Interment is Milford Community Cemetery.
