Clifford Crouch

June 6, 1939 — August 20, 2021

Clifford Thomas Crouch of Milford, DE went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 20, 2021.  He was born June 6, 1939 in Rockingham, NC to the late James B. and Maggie R. Crouch.

After graduating in 1961 with his bachelor’s degree in Social Studies and History from Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC, Cliff went on to receive his master’s in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.

Cliff found himself in Delaware when he was hired by the Delaware Division of Vocational Rehabilitation as the Regional District Manager. He was then appointed by then Governor, Pete DuPont to serve as the Director of the Division. In 1984, Cliff was recruited to lead Kent-Sussex Industries, Inc. as the President and CEO, where he remained until retiring in 2003.  During his tenure, he was instrumental in growing KSI to its current size and reach as he strived to improve the lives of people with disabilities.

As part of his lifetime of serving others, Cliff was a past president of the Delmarva Rehabilitation Association, the Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, the Mid-Atlantic Rehabilitation Association, the Milford Rotary Club, and the Avenue United Methodist Church Pastor Parish.

He was a member of the Delaware Private Industry Council, the George Washington University Advisory Board for Region III, Administration Division, the Milford Elks Lodge #2401, and served as a Ward II Councilmember on the Milford City Council.

Cliff married the love of his life, Vaughn C. Peterson, on September 5, 1959 in Harrells, NC and enjoyed creating a fulfilling and accomplished life with her by his side. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandchildren at the cabin in Pennsylvania, duck carving, playing golf, fishing, playing and watching basketball as he was a diehard UNC fan, and mostly being surrounded by his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his sister Lois J. Crouch; his brother Bobby J. Crouch; and his grandson W. Brandon Crouch.

Cliff is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Vaughn P. Crouch; his son B. Craig Crouch and his three children Andrew Blatzhiem, Anthony Taddeo, and Lauren Fitzgerald and her children Connor and Reagan; his son Jayson D. Crouch (Margie) and his two children Trent Crouch and Chloe Richardson (Carl) and her child Cali; his son C. Trent Crouch (Christine) and his two children Morgan Vance and Dylan Crouch; his great grandchild Alex Crouch; AC Lucas whom he considered a son; his sister Doris Hewett (Richard); and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at Avenue United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 10AM to 12PM, with services beginning at 12PM, immediately followed by a reception.  Those unvaccinated are asked to wear a mask or stream the service online by utilizing this link
