Brenda Beissel

October 18, 1949 — April 22, 2022

Milford - On April 22, 2022, the Lord called Brenda Gail Beissel home.  God’s plan for her life is complete and Heaven is her reward!

Brenda was born on October 18, 1949, in Marion, Virginia to Grover and Reva Sells.  She grew up in Wilmington, Delaware graduating from Brandywine High School.

She was a devoted mother and wife and once their kids were older, she went back to work.  She worked in Milford with the Delaware Music School, in retail, and at The People’s Place.  Whatever Brenda did, she exemplified Colossians 3:23-24.

Brenda was an active member of Avenue UMC for decades, serving in the library, various ministries, the Esther Circle and she packed and collected countless shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child.  She lived out her faith in the Word of God as taught in Acts 20:35- In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

She was an avid scrapbooker and made hundreds of greeting cards.  Brenda was gifted with a generous and tenacious nature and had a passion for fundraising for many charities- particularly those associated with helping cancer patients.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George E. Beissel, her mother, Reva Sells, her stepmother, Shirley Sells and her cherished aunt, Shirley Rutherford.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Brian Williams, grandsons, Evan and Jerron, her son, Todd Beissel, her father, Grover Sells, her brother, Jeffrey Sells and his wife, Teresa, and many cousins with whom she remained close since childhood.  Brenda unquestionably spent most of her time as a friend.  If you were her friend for 57 years or 57 days, you knew her to be faithful, generous, funny, and perhaps a little sassy.

A service will be held at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford, at 4:00PM on Friday, May 6, 2022, with a gathering of family and friends from 3PM to 4PM. Friends and family are invited to wear something pink.

Brenda loved daisies and yellow roses which is beautifully fitting as they symbolize new beginnings and friendship.  In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to:  Pretty in Pink Foundation (5171 Glenwood Ave #360, Raleigh, NC 27612); Relay for Life; Samaritan’s Purse or to any of Avenue UMC’s scholarship funds.  And don’t forget to pack a shoebox in memory of Brenda.
