Thomas Mcmurray

Milford - On January 30, 2023, Thomas M. McMurray peacefully went home to be with the Lord at Bayhealth Hospital Sussex Campus in Milford.

He was born on July 18, 1937 to the late Thomas and Marjorie (de Lyon) McMurray in Chicago, IL.

Tom graduated from Frankfurt High School in Germany and Western New England University, Springfield, MA.

Mr. McMurray honorably served our country in the Army from May 8, 1958 and retired as a Sergeant Major on July 31, 1980. During this time he served with distinction in Vietnam, being awarded the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Cluster, among other awards. He was stationed in Alaska, Greenland, several places in Germany, and Fort Devens, MA.

Tom was very active in Masonic organizations. He is Past Master (1978) of Lebanon Lodge #831 AF & AM in Augsburg, Germany. Tom would attend and join lodges wherever he was stationed. Once he retired to Milford he joined Temple 9 where he was a lodge instructor. He will be greatly missed among his brethren.

Mr. McMurray enjoyed playing golf, NASCAR races and travelling.

Tom is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlayne (Wood) McMurray. He is also survived by his son, Scott McMurray and his wife Barbara, his daughter, Renee Dias, his stepchildren, Lori Mann, Amy Burlingame, Robert Burlingame, and Anne Rogers and her husband George, his sister, Kathleen Kanavos and her husband Peter, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, at 11AM on Saturday 2/11, with visitation starting at 10  AM. Inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
