Theodore Wynes passed away at home in Lincoln, DE, on Sept. 8, 2025, following a long illness. He was 77. Born in Milford, DE, on Nov. 29, 1947 to Arthur and Doris (Mitchell) Wynes, Ted was a lifelong resident of the Milford/Lincoln area. He attended Milford High School and while a high school student, he worked at Joe's Flying A gas station and Lofland's Bakery. In 1968, he joined the Navy and was assigned to the destroyer tender USS Dixie as a cook/baker. Upon his discharge, he returned to Milford and worked at several local businesses until he was hired by Baltimore Aircoil in 1975. He always bragged that his clock number was 3 and was one of the first employees hired who participated in the building of the plant from the ground up. The employees at BAC were like a family, they worked hard and they played hard. Great friendships and memories were made during his 20 years with BAC, he retired as a foreman in 1995. He later became a driver for the Delaware Bay Pilots for 20 years, a job he truly enjoyed, and became good friends with many of the pilots before retiring in 2023.

In 1984, Ted crossed paths with Ann Revel, with whom he felt an instant connection, and they were married in 1985. They shared their love of the ocean and beach, surf fishing, vacations on Hatteras Island, of animals, barbeques, good food and lots of laughter with good friends. Ted loved to tell and listen to tall tales and will be remembered for his sense of humor and any story that starts with “Ted said....”.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Dave Wynes. He is survived by Ann, who was his wife, best friend and his soul mate, they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Aug. 31, 2025; his stepson, Matthew McConaghy, who has been by his side and helped care for him during his illness; his daughters, Kinde Baker and Jennifer Clauges; five grandchildren, one of whom he helped raise and remained close to, Kassidy McConaghy; and a little sparkler of love and joy while he was ill, his great granddaughter, Kallie Morris. He is also survived by a brother, Kevin Wynes, and a close friend whom he thought of as a sister, Cathy Messick Coulbourne.

Per Ted's wishes, there will be no services. If you wish to honor his memory, he suggested donations to Brandywine Valley SPCA, St. Jude's Hospital, or Compassionate Care Hospice. A special thanks to Dr. Michel Samaha, Kelly Yudt, PA, and CC Hospice for their support and excellent care during this difficult year.
