Sharon A. Laverty

On Thursday July 17th, Sharon A. Laverty, peacefully went home to be with the Lord.

She was born on May 3, 1947, in Milford, DE to the late Warren and Ruth Lynch.

Sharon graduated from Milford High School in 1965. She then attended Radford University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Education.

Sharon taught in the Lake Forest School district for over 32 years, before going to Wilmington University as an Adjunct Associate to certify new teachers.

She was a member of W.I.T. (Women Investing Together) and the Mispillion Art League.

Mrs. Laverty had recently been attending Forever Fit Foundation for Therapy.

She enjoyed crossword and sudoku puzzles, reading mystery novels, and loved to travel. Sharon was an excellent artist in watercolors and had many show pieces.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Edward Michael Laverty, and her beloved black lab, Shadow.

She is also survived by her dear friends, Jeff and Elly Stempien of Keuka Park, N.Y., Joanne Mattern of Dover, DE, Kurt and Ruth Plinke of Greensboro, MD, and Barbara Carrow of Marydel, MD.

Mrs. Laverty was preceded in death by her parents, and her dogs, Ashley and Kira.

The family will receive visitors at Rogers Hovatter Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, from 11AM to 1PM on Wednesday July 23rd, with a funeral service at 1PM.

Interment is Milford Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mispillion Art League, 5 N Walnut Street, Milford, Delaware, 19963.
