Salvatore Talamo

December 17, 1943 — June 6, 2025

Frederica

Salvatore “Sal” Talamo, of Frederica Delaware, formerly of Long Island and New Jersey, passed away peacefully at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 17, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, Sal dedicated the early part of his life to the food industry. He worked as a food handler with Local 138 and for companies including Progresso Foods, Louie Ender Foods, and Pioneer Foods until the age of 40.

He was well known by all for his loving and generous spirit— helping both family and friends he treated as family. Sal had a deep love for gathering people together: during holidays, with Italian cooking, and on family vacations. He especially enjoyed boating on the lake, fishing at the beach, and hunting trips to Upstate New York with his brother, nephews, and friends, where he was the life of the party.

Sal shared his sense of humor and appreciation of classic cars and Western movies with his children and grandchildren. Though he often joked about his singing voice, he took great joy in serenading his grandchildren, bringing laughter and warmth with funny songs and renditions of “La Cucaracha”.

Beyond the laughs, Sal was a quiet man guided by faith and a steadfast love of God. He believed in staying kind and “behaving yourself”, as he shared at the celebration of his 80th birthday. He will be remembered for always being just a phone call away.

He is survived by his brother, Vito “Willie” Talamo; his daughter, Francine Talamo; his son, Anthony “Tony” Talamo; and his daughter-in-law, Katrin Talamo. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Natalie Talamo, Tanner Elliott, and Nicole Elliott, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with their grandfather or “Pop Pop”.

Sal’s legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
