Ruth V. Ward
Of Milford, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at her home. She was 84.
Ruth was born on July 17, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of the late Daniel T. and Ethel V. (Derrenberger) Witts.
She was the office manger for many years for Hutzler's Department Store in Baltimore after which she was employed with Catholic Charities, also located in Baltimore, from where she retired.
Ruth was an active member of the Friends of the Milford Public Library, an active volunteer at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital where she was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Milford.
She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Daniel D'Agostino of Milford; a nephew, Daniel Brown and his wife Mary Louise; three nieces, Brigid Cobbs and her husband Drew, Kathleen Wirtz and Monica Durkin; two great nieces, Katie Thomas and Paige Cobbs and three great nephews; Joseph Durkin, Will Durkin and Zachary Durkin.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the St. John's Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford, where friends may greet the family one hour prior.
Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Friends of the Milford Public Library, Att: Kay Hudson, 11 S.E. Front St, Milford, DE, 19963.
