Robert H. Talbert

ELLENDALE - Robert H. Talbert passed away at his home on Thursday, October 8, 2015.  He was 76.

He was born on November 6, 1938 in Washington, D.C., son of the late Darnell and Dora (Bateman) Talbert.

Mr. Talbert was employed as a grower for 31 years at the United States Botanic Gardens in Washington retiring from his position in 1984.

Robert's interest and knowledge of growing plants and vegetables spilled over to his personal life also as he loved working in the yard and tending to his own garden at home.

He was a member of the Milford First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Talbert.

Robert is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen M. Talbert; two daughters, Rose Marie Rippy and her husband Steven of Milford, and Teresa Robb and her husband David of Ellendale; two sons, Robert H. Talbert, Jr. of Severn, MD, and Patrick M. Talbert and his wife Cori of Beaufort, SC; two brothers, Ronald Talbert and his wife Denise of Lothian, MD, and William Talbert and his wife Karen of Potomac, MD; a sister-in-law, Natalie Talbert of Cary, NC; eight grandchildren, Christopher Robb and his wife Melanie, Samantha Talbert and her fiancé Curtis Eliff, Anthony Talbert, Emma Talbert, Lillian Talbert, Patrick Talbert II, Zachary Talbert, and Nicholas Talbert and two great grandchildren, Alaina Robb and Jason Eliff.

Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, 6062 Old Shawnee Rd, Milford.

Burial will follow the services in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
