On April 16, 2026, Robert A. Koppenhaver, peacefully went home to be with the Lord. He was 85.
Mr. Koppenhaver was born on April 14, 1941 in Millersburg, PA, to the late Alvin and Pearl Koppenhaver.
He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1959 and furthered his education by getting a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Bloomsburg University and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Delaware.
He was a life-long educator, working as a science and math teacher at Milford Senior High School for 37 years and as a professor for the University of Delaware’s Parallel Program. After retirement, he continued to teach part-time at Greenwood Mennonite and Epworth Christian Schools.
In his spare time he enjoyed learning about history, reading, watching the Cincinnati Reds, traveling, and attending dinner theater shows with his wife. He also received much fulfillment in serving as an adult Sunday School teacher and participating in his church community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol Koppenhaver, his sons, Robert J. Koppenhaver and his wife Mary, and Michael Koppenhaver and his partner Jennifer Montgomery, his daughter, Jennifer Koppenhaver and her husband Matthew Hinkle, his daughter-in-law, Sharon Koppenhaver, his grandchildren; Ashley West and her husband Chris, Alyssa Picone, Davis Koppenhaver and his wife Cadie, Paige Raysor and her husband Collin, Emma Koppenhaver, Alex Koppenhaver, Lance Benitez, and Joaquin Benitez, his great grandchildren; Blake, Aubrey, Caden, Gunner, and Hayes, and his brothers, Larry and Craig Koppenhaver.
Mr. Koppenhaver was preceded in death by his parents and his son, David Lee Koppenhaver.
The family will receive visitors at The Milford Church of the Nazarene, 11 NW Salevan Place, Milford, Delaware from 10AM to 11AM on Friday May 1st, with a funeral service at 11AM.
Interment to follow at Milford Community Cemetery.
