Philip William Torbert
Of Milford, Delaware, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 85.
Mr. Torbert was born on June 10, 1924 in Milford son of the late Cornelius Oscar and Elsie Inskeep Landing Torbert.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving his country during World War II.
Mr. Torbert was employed for 30 years as a heating and air conditioning technician for N.B. Downing, now Peninsula Oil, retiring from his trade in 1990.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Caroll Torbert.
He is survived by a son, Louis W. Torbert of Milford; four daughters; Laura Davis of Milford, Nancy Griffin and her husband Ronnie of Savannah, GA, Linda L. Summers and her husband Ron of Oxford, PA and Doris A. Baker of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, Richard Torbert of Milford; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.
A graveside service will be held at 12 noon Saturday at the Milford Community Cemetery on North Walnut Street.
Burial with military honors will follow the service there.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE, 19963.
