MILFORD- Oliver B. Hammond, 92, left this earth on January 15, 2018. Oliver was born on the family farm in Frederica on November 12, 1925.
He graduated from Milford High School and Goldey Beacon. After graduation, he went to the Farmer’s Bank, now Citizens, until he retired. In his pre-retirement years he liked to travel over the U.S. His favorite being Florida, especially Clearwater. Weekend trips would take him to Atlantic City and New York City for the shows and sightseeing. Oliver was also a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence K. and Elizabeth Morris Hammond, brother, Francis Hammond, sister, Charlotte Burke, and nephew Delbert Glanden.
He is survived by his niece and caregiver Beverly and her husband Albert “Bud” Coverdale, nephews Wyatt and Beth Hammond, Wayne and Pam Hammond, several great and great-great nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law, Phyllis Hammond.
Services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018. A viewing will be held one hour before the service. Burial will be at Barratt’s Chapel.
