M Annette Friolet, known as Annette, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 6, 2025, in Milford, Delaware, at the age of 82.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Annette was the only daughter of late Percy and Mary Banning. She spent most of her life in her home state, living in Wilmington, Middletown, and Bear, before retiring to Sun City Center, Florida, where she spent 19 joyful years. She returned to Delaware in her final months to be closer to family—a reunion that brought her great comfort.
Annette was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Known for her magnetic personality and unmistakable laugh, she brought warmth and levity wherever she went. A gifted conversationalist, she found joy in beach trips, traveling, crafting, and spirited shopping excursions. As a member of the “Shellcrafters” in Florida, she channeled her creative spirit into beautiful handmade work, and her Buttonwood Beach vacation home remained a treasured gathering place for friends and relatives alike.
She spent her career with Bell Atlantic/Verizon, beginning as a telephone operator and later working as a lead clerk. After retiring, her most joyful calling was caring for her grandchildren, who filled her life with pride and delight.
Annette is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Friolet; her children, Philip Maguire (Barbara), Kaylyn Miller (Steven); her step-son Earl Friolet; her grandchildren, Kimberly McDaniel, Kevin Maguire (Mary), Colin Maguire, Joshua Miller (Michael), and Seth Miller (Natalie); and her great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Vernon Banning and Robert “Bob” Banning (Bunnie). She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William “Billy” Banning.
Her life was marked by kindness, perseverance, and deep love. At 70, Annette faced a pancreatic cancer diagnosis with extraordinary strength—and triumphed. Her resilience uplifted those around her, reminding us that hope can shine even in life’s darkest hours. She taught us that joy is a gift to be embraced daily, that laughter matters, and that quiet bravery is a powerful force.
A celebration of Annette’s life is being planned, with details to be announced.
