Kenneth Ira Nerim, Jr. was born on December 24, 1953 at 6:50 AM EST at old St. Joseph's Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the first born of four children of Jeanne R. and Kenneth I. Nerim, Sr. Ken also known as ,"Kenny," attended St. Matthews School in Baltimore, MD through the third grade. In the summer of 1961, Kenny's Dad took the family on summer vacation to Ocean City, MD. A cottage was rented as was the tradition, except this particular year, Johnny Unitas and his family had rented the one next door. It was quite a fun week and the photo is posted to prove it. In June of 1962, his father's employer transferred him to Ontario, Canada. The family relocated to Willowdale, a suburb of Toronto. Ken attended St. Gabriel's of the Sorrowful Virgin Church and School. He completed the fourth grade there and entered the fifth. At this time, Ken wrote a letter to the President of the U.S.A., John F. Kennedy and his family, also Catholics. It was a letter of condolence for the death of their infant son, Patrick. A response arrived in late September of 1963 which Ken kept to the day he died. Longing to return to the U.S., Ken's father secured permission from his employer to return to Maryland. The family arrived home in Baltimore on November 21, 1963. The next day President Kennedy was assassinated.

Ken always said it became the worst day he could remember, especially with his historical retrospect of the six decades that would pass before his own death. This was the beginning of a lifelong interest in politics and history. Ken attended public schools thereafter, until his graduation from South Carroll High School in Sykesville, MD. He was accepted into Western Maryland College and graduated in 1976 with a bachelor's degree.

Ken was a big fan of the Baltimore Orioles and was in attendance along with his grandfather, Herbert C. Cox, on Sunday October 9, 1966 when the Orioles won the fourth game of the 1966 World Series completing a sweep of the Dodgers and winning Baltimore's first MLB Championship. Ken was also an avid Baltimore Colts fan, USFL Baltimore Stars fan, Baltimore CFL Horse with No Name/Stallions and loved the Baltimore Ravens. Ken also enjoyed playing baseball and football in his younger days. He was a switch hitter and was quite a good 3rd baseman. Ken was a receiver/defensive back and kick returner in football. He was usually the quickest player on the field.

Ken worked for the Colonial Pipeline, Anchor Hocking, Newell and Alford Packaging before relocating to Cape Coral, FL in 1987. He wedded Jill Marie Marino on September 3, 1988 and the couple's daughter, Kristen Elizabeth Nerim, was born in June of 1989. The next ten years were the happiest time of Ken's life. He and his family enjoyed trips back to the north in the summer, the Florida beaches, sports, and life in general. Unfortunately, his best friend, Mike, died unexpectedly in December of 1998. The relationship between him and Jill began to unravel and his marriage would end in divorce on September 4, 2001. As fate would have it, 9/11 would occur a week later. Ken thought 9/11 was almost equal to the Kennedy assassination in historical significance as another turning point, but it would take fifty more years to know just how huge it will really be. Ken became the custodial parent of his daughter and they relocated back to Maryland where he worked for the next ten years in the Howard Co. Public Schools as a substitute teacher, serving in seventy different schools. He also worked for Costco during this time. His work schedule allowed him to be at home for his daughter Kristen, when she was not in school herself. All in all, this arrangement worked out very well. When Kristen graduated high school in 2007, the family moved over to southern Delaware. There they could be close to the beaches, and what Ken called the immortal sea. He loved the beach. Ken passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2026, he was 72 years old.
