On July 8th, 2026, Judith L. Barnett entered into the arms of Jesus at age 63. After two weeks of suffering, she drifted off quietly with a beautiful and peaceful smile.
Judy was born on November 27, 1962, in Petersburg, VA, to Robert and Carol Bishop.
She graduated from A.I. DuPont High School in 1980, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Delaware, and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Gratz College in 2009.
She taught at Delmarva Christian School from 2007 to 2014, and at Milford Central Academy from 2015 to 2024.
Mrs. Barnett loved Jesus dearly, and belonged to Calvary Wesleyan Church in Harrington. She served as pianist for Slaughter Neck Community Church at Argo’s Corner.
She loved sunshine and the beach, teaching remedial reading, creating music, and lifelong learning through podcasts and educational videos. She enjoyed traveling to visit faraway family and friends, especially her step-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Barnett; her children, David Gideon Hubbard (wife Candy) and Sarah Elisabeth Hubbard (fiancé David Ramsburg); her mother, Carol Bishop; her siblings, Sharon Elisabeth Bishop and Robert G. Bishop (wife Meredith); her nieces, Elizabeth and Victoria Bishop; her nephew, Robbie Bishop; and her stepchildren, Rachel Manley, David E. Barnett, Timothy Barnett, and Alletha Barnett. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Solar Manley, Clara Manley, Eleanor Manley, Sophia Barnett, and Colin Barnett.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Robert Bishop.
The family will receive visitors at Rogers Hovatter Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 16. A funeral service will be held at Calvary Wesleyan Church, 240 Delaware Ave., Harrington, at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 17, with visitation beginning at noon.
