Jerry W. Showard, Sr.
HOUSTON - Jerry W. Showard, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 58.
Jerry was born in Cape Charles, Virginia, on April 10, 1956, son of the late Willie B. and Beatrice (Kellam) Showard.
He was employed for several years with Hitchens Tire in Milford leaving his position due to a medical disability.
Jerry loved his family and considered his close friends as part of his family. He cherished family gatherings especially when they involved his cooking talents on a barbeque grill. Jerry enjoyed dancing, listening to the songs of his favorite musicians, George Jones and Hank Williams, Sr., and adding to his collection of Bald Eagles. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He will be missed and loved by all.
He is survived by his wife of 5 years, Terry L. Showard, a daughter, Christa Marie Showard of Ocean View; two sons, Jerry W. Showard, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Felton, and Jesse Aarron Showard and his wife Amber of Greenwood; two step-sons, Leroy M. Travers, Jr. and fiancAC.e Danielle of Lewes, and Derrick A. Travers and his fiancAC.e Renata Clendaniel of Houston; two step-daughters, Sandra L. Findley and her husband Morris of Missouri, and Tabitha M. Travers and her fiancAC. Bryan Selhorst of Mendon, OH; two brothers, William Brooks Showard of Wilmington, and Shelly Stantly Showard of Georgetown; three sisters, Donna Elizabeth Wyatt and her husband Thomas of Milton, Nancy Jean Messick of Long Neck, and Karen Lynn Showard of Georgetown; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, where friends may call after 9:00 a.m.
Following the services, friends are invited to join the family for a barbeque at their home.
Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Jerry's memory be made to your favorite charity.
