James Anthony Favata, Sr.

September 3, 1962 — July 11, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Anthony Favata Sr., who left us on July 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 62 years old.

Born on September 3, 1962 in Pottstown, PA. James, known to many as Jimmy, lived a life rooted in family, hard work and simple joys. Jimmy moved to Delaware in 1983, where he started as a tax ditch surveyor working for the State of Delaware. After his son was born, he decided he wanted more in a career which led him to masonry. For over 30 years, he worked as a mason, earning a reputation as one of the best in the state of Delaware. His hands helped build not just walls but lasting legacies of craftsmanship, integrity, and pride. His craftsmanship was only matched by his dedication to his family and friends.

When he wasn’t laying bricks or blocks, Jimmy found joy in the simple pleasures of life — He loved spending weekends with friends at dirt track races, cruising around town in his truck, and savoring a cup of Wawa coffee, always with a smile and a story to share.

Jimmy leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Terri Favata who was his partner in life and adventure, a devoted son, Tony Favata who carries forward his strength and hard work. Jimmy was a proud Pop-Pop to Julia, Dominic, and Cameron Favata, who brought him endless joy and laughter. He is also survived by his brothers, Joey Favata and Eddie Favata, many cousins and nieces and nephews, and his loving dog, Max. Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Donna Favata, his parents, Joseph E. Favata and Margaret P. Schaeffer, and his Mother in Law, Mickey Mateo.

His legacy of hard work, generosity, and humor will live on through all who knew him. He was the kind of man who would lend a hand without being asked, crack a joke at just the right moment, and remind us all to enjoy the little things.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 20th at Roger’s Funeral Home. A viewing will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service. Burial will be at Lincoln Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Jimmy touched the lives of many and will be missed beyond words. May his memory be a blessing, and his spirit live on in the stories we tell and the lives he built.
