James Bishop Calvert, age 80, of Milford, Delaware, passed away peacefully in his home on August 26, 2026.

Born on November 28, 1945, in Palisades Park, New Jersey, Jim was the son of the late James Whales Calvert and Catherine Calvert. After graduating from high school in June 1963, he began his career at DuPont in Seaford the very next day. Jim dedicated 39 years and 9 months of loyal service to the company before enjoying a well-earned retirement on April 1, 2003. He also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve in Lewes, Delaware.

Outside of work, Jim lived a life rooted in a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was a passionate, avid fly fisherman and hunter who shared his deep love for the water as Captain of the charter boat, West Wind, operating out of the Mispillion. Jim thoroughly enjoyed his memberships with the NRA, the Nanticoke Sportsmen's Club, and the Bridgeville Rifle & Pistol Club. He was also a proud member of the Single Action Shooting Society, where he was affectionately known by his cowboy action shooting alias, "Big Foot Jim." His steady character, love for the wild, and the skills he shared will remain a lasting legacy for his family.

Jim is survived and deeply missed by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol Tebbens Calvert. He was a devoted father to his son Steven James Calvert (Amy), his daughter Dr. Karen Calvert Molinar (Orlando), and his son Keith Lewis Calvert (Leslie). He also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren who brought him immense pride: Tori Ganz (Brandon), Joseph Burgamny, Bishop Calvert, Kendal Molinar, Aubrey Calvert, Kara Calvert and Leah Calvert.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Calvert.
