Helen Crider Johnson Kniss

Age 100, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Milford.

Helen was born on December 11, 1910 in Caldwell, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Luke and Sarah Phillips Crider.

She was a lifetime resident of Lock Haven, Pa, where she was a devoted member of the Dunnstown United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and member of the choir, the United Methodist Women, and was active on various church committees.

For the past several years, Mrs. Kniss has lived in Milford with her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Dick Caldwell, where she attended the First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to choral music, volunteering at the Air Force Base AMC Museum in Dover and attending many activities with Janice and Dick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carroll "Cad" Johnson, her second husband, Robert Kniss; her sister, Elizabeth Crider Wolstencroft; her daughter, Dolores "Dolly" Thomas and her son-in-law, Ross Thomas.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice Johnson Caldwell and Richard Caldwell of Milford; her grandchildren, Jann Thomas Keller and husband James of Casper, Wyoming and Larry R. Thomas and wife Shirley of Hanover, PA; five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Dunnstown United Methodist Church, Church St., Dunnstown, where friends may call one hour prior.

Burial will follow in Dunnstown Cemetery in Lock Haven.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 172, Milford, DE, 19963 or Lincoln Cornerstone Church, P.O. Box 931, Milford.
