On June 14, 2026, Harvey M. Cannon, peacefully went home to be with the Lord. He was 87.
Harvey was born on October 17, 1938, in Milford, DE to the late James and Elizabeth Cannon.
He graduated from Milford High School in 1956.
After high school Harvey honorably served our country in the Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960 as military police.
When he came home Harvey worked many years as a Maintenance Mechanic for DuPont Chemical Company, retiring in 1994. After DuPont he work at the Shawnee Country Club as a Grounds Keeper.
Harvey was a member of Temple 9 Masonic Lodge in Milford.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, gardening, and playing ball with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Verna Jean Cannon, by his daughters, Jeanie Kay Kurser and her husband Roger, and Lisa Carey and her husband Matthew, his grandchildren, Jacob Carey and his wife Nora, and Emily Calhoun and her husband Tyler, his great grandchildren, Cali and Koe Calhoun, his sisters, Patsy Greenly and her husband James (deceased), and Bonnie Howell and her husband Bruce, Phyllis and Bill Fisher, Delores Schuler, Alice (deceased) and Henry Wilson, Brenda Hood, Vernon and Jana Hood, Marian and David Hovatter, Richard Hood (deceased), and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jimmy Cannon and Marilyn.
A Memorial Service will be held at Rogers Hovatter Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford on Sunday June 28th at 3PM, with visitation starting at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or to Houston U.M.C., 235 Broad Street, Houston, DE 19954.
