Gladys Edith Foster

LINCOLN - Gladys Edith Foster, age 81, graduated to Glory at her home in Lincoln surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 15, 2014.

Gladys was born on December 30, 1932 in Edgemoor, Delaware, daughter of the late Walter Carl and Agnes (Hughes) Moore.

She graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School in Richardson Park and from the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington. She worked for Doctors Thomas and Hershon until her marriage in 1959. After her children were in school, she continued her career as a private duty nurse.

Gladys had a great love for music and always sang in the choir of the churches she attended, however, her greatest love was her grandchildren. When she helped design her retirement home in Lincoln, she included a toy room where they would always feel welcome. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and watching the "customers" at her bird feeder and always had a couple of adopted cats.

She was a member of the Cedar Neck Church in Milford, and a former member of the Milford Senior Center and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Rev. Malcolm Foster; four children; Jeffrey Foster (Marie) of Lincoln, Melanie Beth Hatter (Richard) also of Lincoln, Wanda Sue Schnaudigel (Rodman) of Shrub Oak, NY, and Heidi Jo Scribner (Jason) of Southern Pines, NC; eight grandchildren, and a brother, Walter Moore, Jr. of Delaware, AK.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, where friends may call after 1:00 p.m.

Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE, 19963.
