George William Ryder
DOVER - George William Ryder passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was 81.
He was born in Frederica on February 25, 1935, son of the late George P. Ryder and Elizabeth J. Briggs Ryder.
After serving as a member of the Delaware National Guard, George continued working with the Guard as a Civil Service employee spanning a total of 42 years before retiring.
George loved playing golf and enjoyed competing as a sharpshooter for the National Guard accumulating many shooting awards over the years.
He is survived by two sons, George W. Ryer, II and his wife Deborah, and Charles G. Ryder and his wife Sandy; three grandchildren, Jordana Bumgarner and husband Josh, Sara Ryder and Garrett Ryder; and his friend and companion, Ann Sanders.
Services and burial will be held privately.
