Ernest Benjamin Bochet

Ernie passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, after a courageous 24-year battle with prostate cancer. He was born on April 8, 1956, to the late Frank and Juliet Bochet.

Ernie grew up in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, spent most of his life in Mahwah, and enjoyed his retirement in Milford, Delaware. Throughout his career, he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He worked at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, Frame Tech in Oakland, Expo Design Center in Paramus, and faithfully served for 33 years with Home Depot, where he made many lasting friendships.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Pilz Bochet, who stood beside him throughout life's joys and challenges; his sister-in-law, Barbara Broderick (the late Peter); his nieces, Heather and Julie (Brian); his nephew, Daniel (Kimberly); and six great-nieces and great-nephews; He is also survived by his sisters, Anita Mott and Danielle Bland (Tom); He was predeceased by his brother, Frank.

In addition to his family, Ernie leaves behind many dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, humor, and loyalty. The van der Lee family held a special place in his heart, and their friendship meant so much to him over the years.

Ernie found his greatest peace at the beach, where he was happiest listening to the waves and enjoying the beauty of the shore. He will be remembered for his strength, resilience, generous spirit, and the love he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Though he is no longer with us, Ernie’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Burial will be private.
