On June 28, 2026, Dorothy Elvira Hall Irwin, peacefully went home to be with the Lord. She was 98.
Dorothy was born on July 19, 1927 in Tuxedo Park, Wilmington, DE to the late Phillip Ritner Hall and Elvira Wright Hall.
She graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School in Woodcrest, DE in 1945.
Dorothy worked at Delmarva Power and Light, later, Delmarva Power for 26 years, retiring as a Supervisor of the Cash Office.
She was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star and belonged to Five Points Chapter #13, Kent Chapter #11, and Victory Chapter #15.
Mrs. Irwin was a very talented painter and loved to paint water colors, oils, ceramics, and China, which she won Blue Ribbon awards for at the State Fair. She also enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland “Pluto” Towers Irwin, Jr., her parents, her brother, Claude R. Hall, and her sister, Margaret H. Littleton.
Mrs. Irwin is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Irwin and his wife Denise, and Dale Irwin and his wife Joyce; her grandchildren, Jennifer Blakeney and her husband Ray, William Bryan Irwin and his wife Sabine, and Lee Towers Irwin and his wife Cristine; her great grandchildren, Raven Blakeney, Abigale Prater, Emily Irwin, Nathan Irwin, Emma Carroll, Cristian Irwin, and Sabrina Irwin; and 3 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Rogers Hovatter Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, from 10AM to 11AM on Wednesday July 8th, with a funeral service at 11AM.
Interment is private.
