BRIDGEVILLE - Dorothy J. Callaway passed away at her daughter's home where she had been residing on Wednesday, November 25, 2015.  She was 98.

She was born in Milford on April 20, 1917, daughter of the late Wilbert M. and Sallie Richards Joseph.

Dot graduated valedictorian from Milford High School in 1935 and continued her education at Beacom College in Wilmington from where she graduated in 1938.  In that same year she married Thomas E. Callaway and was employed as a secretary for the Atlas Powder Co. in Wilmington for several years until the birth of their first child.

The family moved to Milford in 1949 where she raised her two children and later took a position in the office of Wilkins Fuel Co. in Milford and remained there until retiring to become a full time homemaker.

She was a devoted member for over 90 years of the First Presbyterian Church in Milford and served her church family in many capacities during that time.

In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Callaway, her son, Curtis J. Callaway, and a sister, Leah J. Webb.

She is survived by her daughter, Sally Ray and her husband Richard of Bridgeville; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Callaway of Crofton, MD; two grandchildren, Shannon Callaway, and Matthew Taylor and his wife Danielle; five great-grandchildren, Courtney Haass and her husband Patrick, Destiney Taylor, Taryn Taylor, Matthew Curtis Taylor, and Miles Taylor; one great great-grandchild, Hayden Haass; four step-grandchildren, Rusty Ray, Bunny Harris, Julie Conaway, and Sean Ray; and three step great-grandchildren, Ashley Harris, Josh Harris and Alexa Conaway.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, where friends may call after 1:00 p.m.

Burial will follow the services in the Milford Community Cemetery on Route 113.
