Doris Mills Willis
Of Milford, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011, surrounded by her family at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 96.
Doris was born on January 12, 1915 in Milford daughter of the late Miles Elwood and Minnie (Beardsley) Mills.
She was employed for 18 years with Derricksons in Milford as their retail sales manager. Doris later took a position as receptionist for several years in the dental office of Dr. Gary Isaacs in Milford and then in the same capacity for Dr. F. T. Viloria in Milford for 14 years from where she retired in 2001.
Doris enjoyed gardening, spending time on the beach, playing bridge, volunteering as a mentor for students of the Milford School District and her social outings with the Red Hat Mamas. She will be remembered most for her wonderful sense of humor, zest for life and her devotion to her family and friends.
She was an active member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford where she participated in many church activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Thomas Kemp, her second husband, Charles F. Nugent, her third husband, J. Spencer Willis; two brothers, Richard B. Mills and E. Rodman Mills and a sister, Elizabeth Mills.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Kemp of Marathon, FL and Joe Kemp of Frederick, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Phillip Woehrle of Lincoln; a sister, Shirley J. Welch of Milford, three grandchildren; Mark Bennett, Shelby Rosenquist and Elizabeth Spigone and ten great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford, where friends may call after 11:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in the Milford Community Cemetery on Route 113.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE, 19963 or Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford, DE, 19963.
