Dolly Lecates Berwick

MILFORD - Dolly Lecates Berwick passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 71.

Dolly was born in Salisbury, Maryland on January 26, 1943, daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn (Beach) Lecates.

She was a self-employed beautician working from the shop in her home for 25 years before retiring from her profession in 1982.

Besides her love and commitment to her family and friends, Dolly was deeply devoted to her faith as a long time member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford. She was a member of the Esther Circle, and a member and past president of the United Methodist Women. Dolly served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the choir for many years, and was the food coordinator for various functions held in the church's fellowship hall.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Louise Haughey, and a granddaughter, Michele Jarrell.

Dolly is survived by her husband of 50 years, Edward N. Berwick; two daughters, Teresa Jarrell of Lincoln, and Dawn Nielsen and her husband Chris of Milford; two sisters, Jackie Jester and her husband Richard of Dover, and Debbie Johnson and her husband Wade of Laurel; and two grandchildren, Eric Nielsen and Elizabeth Nielsen.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford, where friends may call at 1:00 p.m.

Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford, DE, 19963 or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford.
