On Saturday, September 30, 2017, Cynthia Canevari (nee Cisick), of Milford, DE, and formerly of Norwalk, CT, passed away after her long battle with cancer. She graduated from Spring-Ford High School in 1975 and later received her degree in Physical Therapy from Harcum College to begin her pursuit of helping others.
Since her first battle with cancer she had become a dedicated advocate, volunteering and raising money in the fight against all forms of cancer. She was most recently the DE State Lead Ambassador to the American Cancer Society, Cancer Action Network, meeting with state officials and petitioning the US Congress for funding toward cancer research.
Cynthia worked as a Physical Therapy assistant at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, DE, and was a dynamo at her local gym and in numerous benefit 5K runs.
Mrs. Canevari is survived by her husband of 26 years, Mike Canevari; her mother, Sue Cisick; her sister, Christina Scott; her brother, Peter Cisick, and nieces and nephews. She will be fiercely missed by all of us who had the privilege to call her “friend”. Her smile and laugh were infectious and will remain with everyone she touched.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Apostle, 506 Seabury Ave. Milford, DE 19963, at 1PM, on Saturday, October 14th. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Cooper Foundation at foundation.cooperhealth.org/givenow, and select cancer research.
