Cynthia A. Sammons, 72, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025. Known affectionately as Cyndee to friends and family alike, she was born on June 19, 1953, in Bryn Mawr, PA. She grew up and lived on the Main Line before eventually residing in Limerick, PA.
With a work ethic to be admired, Cyndee became an executive in the financial community (Amerigas, Vanguard, SEI) where she enjoyed a long and successful career which included time spent overseas in London.
Cyndee found joy in many pursuits, especially those that allowed her creativity to shine. Her artistic spirit was evident in her love of sewing, counter cross-stitch, rope basket making, and crafting of all kinds. Nothing, however, brought her greater happiness than spending time with her family. She took immense pride in their accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to cheer on both her children and grandchildren. Cyndee was an avid reader, most often found with a book in hand. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing board and card games with their cherished friends, and shared her love generously through cooking. Cyndee was a devoted home cook, known by all as an excellent one.
After retirement in Milford, DE, she became intimately involved with the Milford Elks Lodge #2401, where she served as Exalted Ruler, Secretary and Treasurer. Friends at the lodge became like family and Cyndee’s leadership did not go unnoticed. Through her involvement with the Elks, she found great fulfillment in serving others and giving back to her community through acts of charity and service.
Cyndee was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Robert and Alice Sanders, her parents, and her husband John H. Sammons, II. She is survived by her children: Lisa Smith of Newark, DE, Stanley Sugzdinis, Jr. of Linfield, PA, and Christina Strunk of Lewes, DE; grandchildren: Jack, Mackenzie, Madison, Samuel, Tomas, Samantha and Michael John; and her sisters Lynne Gardiner and Kathy Farra.
Family and friends are invited to visit Rogers Hovatter Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, DE, on Saturday, January 3 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Services will begin at 12:00pm, followed by interment in Lincoln Cemetery.
