Carolyn Saxon

MILFORD - Carolyn Genevieve (Marvin) Saxon was removed from this life by God on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, after spending 83 years in His loving care here on earth.

Born June 28, 1932, she was the only child of Albert Skinner Marvin and Doris Charlotte (Whitaker) Marvin.  While her father's heritage was among settlers to both New England and Virginia in the 1600's, she abstained from her Mayflower and DAR status.  After growing up with no siblings she bore ten children, half of them still living in Kent and Sussex Counties.

She was raised in Livingston, NJ.  Before living in Milford these past 50 years, Carolyn resided with her husband and family in Bennington, VT and Mendham, NJ.  She attended school for graphic arts and worked in Manhattan in the field.  She met her husband while they were both employed at General Drafting Corp. in Convent Station, NJ.  Carolyn worked at the Milford Senior High School cafeteria from 1973 until 1991, where she was known by faculty and students for her sense of humor.  After retiring, she performed countless hours of volunteer work at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Milford where she was a member and past employee, and as a member of the Frederica Spring Creek Lions Club receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Francis Saxon, and two grandchildren, Timothy Saxon and Brandon Wagamon.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Stephanie Saxon of Atlanta, GA; Jeanne Fanning and her husband Michael of Mt. Airy, MD; Lee Ann Saxon of Roanoke, VA; Robert Saxon and his wife Maria of Chesterfield, MO; Richard Saxon of Athens, GA; Nina Cameron of Georgetown; Catherine Rochester of Magnolia; Scott Saxon and his wife Terri of Houston; Warren Saxon of Milford; and Nancy Saxon of Milford; 15 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild with whom she took special delight.

Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford.
