Armand Joseph Arseneau

Of Frederica, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover surrounded by his family. He was 77.

Armand was born on January 25, 1934 in Syracuse, New York, son of the late James and Rose (Gosslin) Arseneau.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving his country during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Arseneau was employed with the Civil Service at the Dover Air Force Base as their roads and grounds supervisor until retirement.

He loved designing and carrying out landscaping projects and in his free time enjoyed playing bridge, pinochle and pool where his competitive skill earned him a senior Olympic medal. His greatest accomplishment however was that of a loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Arseneau was a member of the Milford Senior Center, the Frederica Senior Center, the Blue Hen VFW Post #6483 in Milford and the American Legion.

He attended the Freedom Baptist Church of Frederica.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Arseneau in 1991, a brother, Robert Arseneau and a sister, Lorraine Fern.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law; Edgar J. Arseneau and his fiancAC.e Belinda Joseph of Milford and Edward J. and Mary Arseneau of Wilmington; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Luke Gallagher of Milford; his fiancAC.e, Patricia Kilby of Frederica; six grandchildren, Jeremiah Jones, Rhianna Arseneau, Monica Arseneau, Julia Arseneau, Justin Arseneau and Kalab Arseneau; two great grandchildren, Noah Armand Jones and Natalie Lewis and a special niece, Eileen Doughty and her husband Mike.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Freedom Baptist Church, 201 S. Market St, Frederica, where friends may greet the family after 10:30 a.m. Friends are invited to a reception at the church immediately following the service.

Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Milford Senior Center, 111 Park Ave, Milford, DE, 19963 or to the Freedom Baptist Church, 201 S. Market St, Frederica, DE, 19946.
