MILFORD – On Tuesday, August 15, 2017, Dorothy Pauline Mende, 95, passed away at Caroline Nursing home in Denton, Maryland.
Dorothy was born on October 5, 1921 in Akron Ohio to the late Lester and Grace Wagner.
She was a loving wife and mother. She resided 30 years and raised her family in North Haledon, NJ, with her husband George Sr. They retired to Milford, DE, in 1979. She loved cooking, baking, knitting, and crocheting.
She was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Milford and also attended Avenue United Methodist Church of Milford. She was very active in the Milford Senior Center: working in the Thrift Store, participating in shows, going on trips, and playing pool with the boys. She enjoyed oil painting with her friend Delores Cubbage.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Sr. and son Paul. She is survived by her sons, George Jr. of Felton, DE, and David (Eleanor) of Pompton Plains, NJ. Also survived by grandchildren, Kimberly J. Mende of NJ, Christopher G. Mende, great-grandson, Landon C. Mende of Minnetonka, MN, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, NJ on Monday, August 21, at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Milford Senior Center and the First Presbyterian Church of Milford.
